WEIGHT LOSS FOODS

June 13, 2016 by Caroline Deisler 4 Comments

Nearly every woman has been on a diet at least once in their life! Most of these diets tell you to only eat low carb and high protein foods. The problem with that is that you NEED carbs because that is the fuel for every cell of your body. A low carb diet will never satisfy you long term and that is why you will always have “cheat days” where you want to eat everything.

Don’t starve yourself for 6 days, slow down your metabolism and then on one day eat all the unhealthy foods that you tried to avoid in the first place.

Although I am not a big fan of dieting, because I think any kind of restricting diet is something negative, there are certain foods that will help you to lose weight.

So let’s talk about weight loss foods that make you HAPPY, LEAN and HEALTHY

  1. Watermelon

Watermelon is my number one tip:-). Watermelon is high in fibre, high in good natural sugar and obviously high in water :-). It makes you full, boost your digestion, is great for your skin, leaves you hydrated and makes you lose weight at the same time.

Only thing to remember when eating watermelon is that you should always eat it on en empty stomach and not combined with other food because it digests so quickly that it would cause digestion problems otherwise. Please don’t listen to the people saying watermelon is too high in sugar and therefore bad for you. Due to its high water content and high dose of fibre, the sugar is being absorbed slowly while the food is being digested which means your blood sugar level stays balanced. You can eat as much as you care for and never have to restrict yourself on watermelon. 🙂

  1. Cantaloupe Melon

Cantaloupe Melon is just as amazing as watermelon. It is high in Vitamin A, high in water and high fibre. I also love how gentle melons are on your stomach. I think they make the perfect breakfast and the perfect post workout meal as they leave you well nourished and hydrated and are low in calories as well.

  1. Pineapple

Pineapple is sooooo good for you!!!! I eat pineapple all the time!! It is full of enzymes that are good for our digestion, is packed with antioxidants and has lots of vitamins. I love to start every meal with a big cup of pineapple!

  1. Tomatoes & Cucumber

Tomatoes and cucumber are fruits that don’t contain any sugar which means eating them doesn’t affect your blood sugar level at all. It’s always good to munch on them whenever you feel hungry so you keep your metabolism working but are consuming only few calories at the same time. Tomatoes and cucumber are also high in fibre and water and therefore amazing for your digestion and skin. They really keep your mood balanced as well. I love to make a simple tomato, cucumber salad like this one:

  1. Asparagus

Hmmmm Asparagus is so amazing. I am always so happy when asparagus season is finally around the corner and I can’t wait to make lots of recipes with this delicious vegetable. Asparagus helps your body to clean its kidneys, is full of vitamins and very low in calories. I love green asparagus with potatoes and tomatoes or topped on a big salad. 🙂

  1. Celery

Celery sticks are such a great snack and so easy to carry around. I love to cut up some celery, bell peppers and carrots and take them with me on a busy day. It’s good to have a savoury option to snacks like dates and fruits. They are also very low in calories, help your body to release water tension and provide you with a lot of fibre.

  1. Potatoes

As you probably know by now, I am the biggest fan of potatoes. They are just sooooo satisfying, make you full, are easy on your stomach and they are low in calories as well. I love to have steamed potatoes with a big green salad.

  1. Squash/ Pumpkin

Squash is another BIG FAVOURITE of mine. Roasted kabocha squash is just like PURE HEAVEN :-). The nutty flavour and thick, creamy consistency is sooo delicious. I love to roast it for 40 minutes on 190 degree celsius and eat the skin as well. Add a big salad and you have the perfect dinner. High in nutrients, very satisfying and low in calories.

I have mentioned calories in some points here but please don’t get me wrong, I am not saying you should only eat the fruits and vegetables that are low in calories. However, many people care about the amount of calories foods have and that’s why I pointed it out. 🙂

All fruits and vegetables are naturally very low in calories. Therefore, we have to make sure to eat enough to nourish our body well and to get all the energy we need. Personally, I never count calories of fruits and vegetables and would never recommend you to do so.

Focus on adding A LOT of these HEALTHY FOODS into your diet!  You will feel great, have lots of energy and you will naturally lose unwanted body weight. 🙂

Hi Flroiane, im 1,79m tall. I don’t really weight myself though as i don’t think its a good way of measuring. We all have different bodies and weight is not accurate. Just focus on eating healthy, working out regularly and being positive:-) Hope that helps 🙂 xx Caroline

    Hi Alexandra,

    Hoffe das hilft:)!
    xx Caroline
